The Masaryk Circuit

The Masaryk Circuit in Brno attracts not only young bikers – it’s popular among the motor fans all over the world. The location in the middle of beautiful nature, its difficulty and history – for all this, the circuit is one of the best tracks of the World Cup tour.

The first race on the circuit, the motorcycle championship of Moravia, took place on Saturday July 18, 1987. This event was then followed by the joint national championship of motorcycles and racing cars. The main impulse for the building of a new track had been the death of the Italian racer Luigi Rinaldi on the old circuit 15 years ago. His car, after aquaplaning on the wet track, hit the wall in the home straight, killing a track officer as well. The old circuit, leading through built-up areas in the villages of Bosonohy and Veselka and the housing estate in Kohoutovice, no more met the requirements. Therefore, despite the adjustments of the track, Brno lost the license to organize the motorcycle world cup as well as big car racing events.

Since its opening, the new Masaryk Circuit hosted 19 races of the Moto GP (motorcycle world cup series). Racing cars and motorcycles are seen on the circuit throughout the year, as the track is used, apart from races, also for testing and training of the teams.

We shouldn’t forget the motorcycle and car racing championships of Germany and Switzerland either, as well as the Alpe Adria Cup Series. The schedule also includes the Czech motorcycle and car racing championship, international club events, testing rides, driving and racing schools, or various social and business events including presentations of new products of car and bike industry. Also the special mini-bike track is crowded continuously, providing a great seedbed of future road racers.
